La Iruela Castle

From this Keep, you can look out over the sea of olive trees covering the Guadalquivir Valley. Here, the mountain olive groves merge with the natural gateway to the Sierras de Cazorla, Segura y Las Villas Natural Park, creating a landscape characteristic of La Iruela.

The view extends across a landscape shaped by olive trees, rural tracks, agricultural plots and traditional farmhouses. On the northern horizon, several nearby towns can be seen, including Torreperogil, Sabiote, Úbeda, Baeza and Iznatoraf.

To the south lies an impressive mountain panorama. Notable landmarks include La Mocha Peak, with its via ferrata and Tibetan bridge; Escribano Peak, the highest summit; and the Hocino Stream, whose waters irrigate many of the nearby market gardens.

Among the countless olive trees, several ancient specimens stand out, including the Acebuche de Las Hoyas Wild Olive Tree, which was named Best Monumental Olive Tree in 2023.
